To Retire or Not......

Well in year 29 of working at the same school system and its decision time, very soon! I do have a year of sick leave that will make it 30 years!! WOW!! However this economy is NOT helping in the decision making process at all, in fact it's exacerbating the options. The school system is making cuts by not hiring retirees at all, part time or other-wise. So there went my plans for continuing to work part time.

So do I look for a new job???? That's a bit scary after not having to worry about a job for the last 29 years AND with the economy being the way it is will I even be able to find a thing?!?!
Or do I just stay for another year??? And hope the economy gets better or that Gwinnett might change it's mind about the retiree policy?? Yeah right, like that is going to happen!
And with the wedding of Jordan next summer (2011) I could use the money, but don't need any more stress prior to the wedding!!
So if you have any helpful advice or know of any good jobs out there that would work for me......I'm trying very hard to listen and really hear and know what I should do!! HELP!!!

Snow Day Fun!

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! But since we had snow this weekend that is what I want to talk about today. Friday we got snow again! It began snowing on Friday around 3pm and it didn't stop until late in the evening! So once everyone got home and we ate, the guys wanted to play in the snow. We seem to have some required equipment at our house: golf cart, old hydroslide (ancient first generation wake board), ropes, snow clothing gear, so it began. We pulled each other around the snowy/icy streets and had a blast. However on Saturday morning we had to go out again and try it in the snow. After bundling up, we headed out and this time we went to the Loganville High School Football field. We headed to the back parking lot and the big open field was just covered so that's where we began. Justyn started it off and covered in we headed out to the street and it was probably even more fun. The streets were all ice and it was easier to manuever the hydroslide there. Each of us took a turn, even the "old" people and had a blast, though not without some bumps!
Here is the shot of all of us with the old hyrdoslide
Lots of fun was had by all and it really wore us out. Everyone took naps in the afternoon and watched the Olympics!! Hope you all had fun in the Snow!! More Meanderings later.......

Girl's Scrapbook Weekend

Just got home from my Scrappa Latte Weekend! It was tons of fun!! I love to scrapbook and have basically all of my life. So I've hooked up with some girls that have at least two long weekend retreats a year to give you lots of time, space, and help as you complete your scrapbooking!! We are out in the boonies at Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center in Mansfield. I don't get cell service there at all....yeah no phone calls!
I love Creative Memories products and love the new digital scrapbooking best! I love the software!!! I'm almost totally digital at this point, but still have lots of traditional products as well.
So this is what it looked like on Thursday night.....hardly anyone there....

I was able to finish Jordan's baby had been in an old magnetic album (bad, bad, bad) and I finally got it all removed....have blisters on two finger from this :-(....but it's all complete!  Her entire first year with very specific memories. Very special people that she knew and loved and are no longer with us anymore. She went through the entire thing when I got home and loved it.......I save everything and she loved reading cards and seeing her great grandparents pictures and it made me happy!! :-)

Friday I got busy on the digital storybooks I'm working on. I am such a chronological person it's ridiculous, but that is how I keep it all I got very behind and I'm working on both 2009 and 2010 at the same time. But after this weekend I'm happy to say that I've once again caught up with the current year and I'm making HUGE progress on 2009, all the way up to May!
I bought the Creative Memories new Simple Start cd and I think it's one of the best possible purchases for anyone getting started with digital. The layouts are predesigned and all you have to do is add your pictures, and paper into the slots available and add any other embellishments you want!  Simple! I Love It!!
Here is my favorite page using one of these templates:

Of course things really get cooking when more of the girls arrive on Friday! These women are serious scrapbookers!! Take a look:

I got 42 digital pages completed in addition to completing Jordan's traditional baby album. And to top the weekend off Scrapping Simply had a sale so that I could order all of the page prints at a discounted rate and get them put into some albums!! This is my particular choice.....I buy the new slide in page print pages and put them in the album of my choice!
So I feel real good about what I got accomplished!! Here are a few more of my favorite pages:
This is from when Jim and I stopped at Ormond Beach on the way back from daddy's birthday celebration weekend!  I love to try these techniques with the right pictures. This was sunrise one morning.

This is the one of my birthday lunch on the Moshulu in Philadelphia!

Just love scrapbooking and recording the memories of my life.....someday Jordan will have them all so that she can deal with them!! Hope she doesn't throw them away!
