Georgia Aquarium

With my brother in town for one day, I decided the Georgia Aquarium would be a great trip! Jim and I hadn't been yet, so that's what we decided. We just bought general admission tickets for $26 a piece, but it gets you in and you can see all of the exhibits! Also bought a pre-paid parking pass for a discout, which is nice as well. It was really a fun day!

The Ocean Voyager tank is AWESOME!! This is where the whale sharks are and 2 manta rays and all manner of fish! It's just cool watching them feed the whale sharks with their 4 foot wide mouths, yes 4 ft. wide!! They don't eat the other fish at all.......they are vegetarians!
This is from below in the tunnel!
There are all sort of aquatic displays. The tropical reef is also gorgeous! The fish are just beautiful! They come in so many shapes and sizes and colors!

This picture does not do it justice! Of course you are looking through 8 inches of acrylic! The Aquarium is an amazing building feat as well. All of that water is amazing and heavy!  Their filtration system can filter the water in the big tank (Ocean Voyager) in an hour! For those of you that you have had fish tanks in your life understand the immense size of a filtration system like that!!

Jimmy wanted to feed the sting rays, so we were at the touch exhibit that you can feel the sting rays and the small sharks and I got this picture of him feeding.

And the Beluga Whales are also gorgeous! Beautiful!

So that is Jimmy and Janet standing there just watching and it was their 24th wedding anniversary! It was a great day and when we finished with the Aquarium we took them to the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, GA for good old southern cookin!

Happy Anniversary Jim and Janet! Love you both and wish you many more!!

Plants in backyard!!

Giant Hosta!
This plant has gotten so large and I have two that have done this! It actually has covered another hosta right next to it. I've got 7 hostas that were all planted at the same time and this one and one other have become giant plants! I have seriously got to divide this plant before next year or I'm afraid the other plant will die! They have all grown at different rates, and I understand they are different kinds, but this one is HUGE!!! It's gorgeous, but huge!!

See the other hosta just underneath the leaves?? It has the light edge leaves. It is also being covered by the hosta to it's right as well.....clearly it's not as large as the one to it's left, but it's BIG! I do Like hostas and would love to have more! They always look so cool and peaceful to me, which is what a garden is supposed to do for you!
The newest plants I've added to the backyard are some Hydrangeas....they are the Mini Penny versions. I actually knew the lady that these were named for, Mrs. Penny McHenry. She had the most beautiful garden in her backyard, that was called Hydrangea Heaven. She had so many kinds of hydrangeas and knew how to propogate and that is why this variety is named for her. Jim taught her son in high school and he is now a HS coach in Colorado.....is the ski team coach (what a great job!) Mrs. Penny Mac is gone now, but her legacy lives on with her hydrangeas!
This is what they look like now.....they are still very young, but very pretty and dainty flowers. I would love to have tons more hydrangeas in my backyard.......maybe some day!
Maybe I'll have more time for gardening when I retire next year! I hope so!!

Danielle's wedding

Jordan's childhood friend, Danielle Bryant got married on Saturday. She had a beautiful day in Athens for the wedding at the Athens Botanical Garden Day Chapel. It is absolutely a gorgeous venue for a wedding. It is small and it was full of friends and family! She looked absolutely gorgeous!
Jordan was a bridesmaid and since she is getting married next year she was taking notes as she participated and watched. She got lots of ideas this weekend and is realling bumped up her own wedding planning.
Here are some pics of the wedding.

This was during the Sand ceremony. I loved the sun shining in on her, it made a great photo.

The happy mother and father of the bride at the end of the ceremony. It was a very beautiful ceremony and they did a great job!!
And last but not least Jordan prior to walking in.....she looked beautiful as well!

So the planning for her wedding will begin in earnest now! Can't wait to begin the journey! I'll let you know how things so as we move forward with our own wedding adventure!!
